Necessities & Niceties to make our RV van a home
As you may imagine, downsizing from a 32' Fifth Wheel with three slide-outs to a 19' van has offerred some challenges. The Simpliciy SRT came from the manufacturer with all of the basics including both in-dash and roof-top AC, 24" TV with DVD and surround-sound, back-up camera, microwave, two-burner LP range, 12V refrigerator and on-demand hot water heater. The motor charges the house battery when running and the inverter supplies the 110 outlets throughout the van.
It is totally self-contained to go "off-the-grid" for a few days with an under-the-hood generator, gray, black and fresh water tanks, a regular toilet and both an indoor and outdoor shower. The rear sofa turns into a queen-size bed at the push of a button. The crank-out awning provides your comfortable outside living space. For waste disposal it has both the normal slinky and the motor driven macerator evacuator.
That said we had to add some necessities as well as some niceties to make our living easier and more comfortable. After eight RVing years we had some idea of what we needed. We researched most items and ended up finding the best prices on Amazon and have added the sources below. We have purchased all items on this page. |

Colorful & Functional
Seat Covers
|
A splash of color!
Small space living calls for some thought and planning to fit everything in and still be comfortable. Like most things It will come with patience and practice.
We decided to go with a sunset theme which also added color to brighten our interior.
The colorful seatcovers we selected fit the Promaster seats perfectly and are available in many colors. The leather steering wheel cover matches the seats and is a snug fit. I found it went on easier by starting it and then letting the sun loosen it to gradually fit the steering wheel. It fits perfectly and has a nice feel. |

Gaining an extra room!
The awning has always been a very important part of any of our RV's. It brings the great outdoors into your living space to enjoy whether it's lakeside, on a river bank or deep in a forest.
Just crank it out, lay down the ground mat, set up your folding table, a tablecloth under our Coleman grill to be a little bit fancy, if you like, and let the crazy World go by without you for a spell.
In a campground it's like the front porch of old from which you can meet and greet your neighbors as you wish. |

Hershii
Teension Shelf
|
Need a sturdy closet shelf?
We found one. The Hershii consists of a 5 rod shelf that locks in place tightly. It adjusts in several sizes which is perfect for the space between the cupboards and does not interfere with using the sofa or the bed. We store 2 sleeping bags and a comforter on it.
We bought a pair of curtain rods to secure the load front and back.
Travel movement and jostling has yet to loosen the shelf. No holes or screws needed. |

The ALLZONE Expandable Under Sink Cabinet Shelf we added is easily installed with no drilling and is quite sturdy for holding our pillows and bedding. Add a curtain rod in front and back and the goods are secure.

With a push of a button the sofa becomes our queen-sized bed. The bedding stores on the new shelf overhead. |
And we're off in search of another sunset in our pint-sized home on wheels! |
