It's a nice park, with fairly level sites, full hook-ups, and free wifi and
cable. Special weekly rates. A good
place to spend a
few days, and close enough to zip in and out of Savannah via Oatkie to
US17. Getting around the city is fairly easy by car, but we also suggest
taking one of the bus or trolley tours to get your bearings and then
you can choose to visit where and what you want at will.
There is also a walking tour of the Historic District, with a Southern
gentleman, that is both interesting and entertaining.
Make reservations for Paula Deen's, "The Lady and Sons Restaurant"
early as seating fills up quickly. We have yet to get in!
This RV Park is 10 Minutes from Savannah Convention Center parking and
the river ferry,
or stay on US17 across the bridge and Savannah will be on your left.
Lunch or dinner at the Pirate House is a hoot, as well as a visit to the
Historic District and a stroll along River Street, along the River. Grab
lunch on the balcony of "One-Eyed Lizzy's". The food is very good and
you'll have a front row seat (albeit 2nd floor) for some great people
watching.
You'll want to spend a few days in the area to see it all. You are
even close enough, at the Park, for a drive out to Hilton Head if you so
desire.
Directions:
Coming from the South, GPS will tell you to take Exit 99A from I-95, and
then a rather circuitous route for 17 miles over a rather bumpy road and
a very tall bridge. That route is fine and scenic if you don't mind the
aforementioned challenges.
We recommend an easier and smoother route, by going farther North on
I-95 to Exit 8, then West on 278, to 17 South. Then East on Main St
(SC46) in Hardeeville. Take it to the junction of SC170W and follow
SC315/S Oatkie Hwy for 3.2 miles. The Park will be on your left.
