UPSTATE NEW YORK:
THE
ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS
|
When people think of New York, their thoughts often do not travel
farther than the borders of New York City. However, just 3+ hours North is an
outdoor playground of immense proportions that will have something to
delight young and old alike, the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
The Adirondack Mountains are contained within the 6.1 million acres of
the Adirondack Park, which includes a constitutionally protected Forest
Preserve of approximately 2,300,000 acres. About 43% of the land is
owned by the state, with 57% in private holdings. The Adirondack Park
contains thousands of streams, brooks and lakes waiting for you to
discover them.

Some Dining Notes:
Noon Mark Diner, Keene Valley, NY
Okay for a quick lunch or ice cream stop.
Luck E Star, Warrensburg
Very slow dinner service. Try the "Mud Slide" dessert.
Stewart's Shoppes
(Throughout the Adirondacks)
Home of "Make your own Sundaes". Good ice cream and
smiling help (usually).
Ninety-Nine Restaurant, Queensbury
Great selection of good food. Attentive service.
Popcorn while you wait.
Sally's Henhouse, Kingsbury
Not fancy, just big portions of delicious home cooking
& daily specials
O'Tooles, Queensbury
Sports Bar. Great lunches, noisy dinnertime. Service is
hit & miss.
Heidelberg, Queensbury
High priced. Pretentious. Poor food quality, wilted
salads, etc. Skip it!
Olde Log Inn, Warrensburg
Food tasty but poor/slow service detracted. Not the
best value & service with attitude.
Wagon Wheel, Ticonderoga
Popular breakfast and lunch stop with locals and
tourists. Good value.
Brunetto's, Warrensburg
Food good overall but don't expect bread or salad
included. Inattentive waitress.
Lac du Saint Sacrement, Lake George
Take the cruise, include the lunch. Good combination
and value.
Johnny's, Willsboro
New sports bar. Nice atmosphere, service, beer and
desserts. Skip the puuled pork BBQ.
Crown Point BBQ/Frenchman's Rest
Used to be special but not nearly as special anymore.
Gino's Pizza, Warrensburg
Flavorless pizza with very thin crust. Locals say it
used to be better.
Dickey's Barbeque Pit, Queensbury
Always great BBQ with good side dishes!
Jacobs & Toney, Warrensburg
Huge subs packed with fresh cut meats & veggies. Deli
salads are very good especially the pasta & the seafood salads.
Ashley's Cafe, Lake Placid
Don't judge a book by it's cover! Prompt service and
really good food.
Suzie Q's, Brant Lake
Mediocre food. More flies than patrons.
Lackadaisical service. Pass it by.
George Henry's, Warrensburg
Overpriced bar food. Go for the drinks.
New Way Lunch, Warrensburg/Glens Falls
NOT the place to get real Michigans!
Gene's, Port Henry
THE place to get real Michigan's with tons of french
fries. People come from miles around.
Gunnison's Orchards, Crown point
Gift shop, and really
good homemade pies, baked goods and apples in season.
Dragon Lee Chinese, Warrensburg
Even the fried rice is tasteless! Forgettaboutit!
Chinatown, Queensbury
Small buffet selection, poorly prepared. Not worth the
price.
China Buffet, South Glens Falls
Best in the area. Large selection, prepared properly
and well tended.
China Buffet, Queensbury
Good selection. Fairly priced. Clean facility.
